Summary of Work Start Scheme Placement Opportunity
As a dementia caregiver, you will be responsible for assisting individuals living with dementia in their daily activities, providing emotional support, and ensuring their safety and comfort. Your role will involve understanding the unique needs and challenges of dementia patients and providing personalized care to enhance their quality of life.  
Duties/Responsibilities
Personal Care: Toileting, while maintaining dignity and respect for the individual.   Emotional Support: Provide companionship and emotional support to individuals with dementia, engaging in meaningful conversations, reminiscence therapy, and recreational activities to stimulate cognitive function and mood.   Safety Monitoring: Maintain a safe environment for the individual by identifying potential hazards and implementing preventive measures, such as removing tripping hazards and securing sharp objects.   Mobility Assistance: Assist with mobility and transfer activities, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices to prevent falls and injuries.   Communication: Communicate effectively with family members and management/staff. Written record at the end of the day   Documentation: Maintain accurate records of care provided, including daily activities, changes in behavior or condition, and any significant events, discuss with management/staff
Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Personal Qualities
Empathy and Patience: Demonstrated ability to empathize with individuals living with dementia and remain patient and calm in challenging situations.   Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with individuals with dementia, family members   Experience: Prior experience working with dementia patients or in a caregiving role preferred, with knowledge of dementia care techniques and best practices. Training will be provided in the role.   Certification: Completion of dementia care training programs or courses may be required   Physical Stamina: Ability to lift and assist with the mobility of individuals who may have limited strength or mobility.   Reliability: Dependable and trustworthy, with a commitment to providing consistent and reliable care to individuals with dementia.
